What's a CSA?
A CSA is an agreement between the eater and the farmer. When you purchase a CSA share, your farmer makes a commitment to you to do our very best to provide exquisitely flavourful, fresh, organic veggies during the CSA season (late June-Thanksgiving). In return, you make a commitment to the farm to purchase your produce in advance of the season. We share the risks of an adverse season, and also share the rewards of a bountiful one.
Why would I want a CSA?
You love and appreciate super fresh, fantastically delicious veggies!
To feel the satisfaction that comes from supporting a local business and your local food infrastructure. The financial commitment you make in advance of the season helps the farm pay for seeds, supplies and labour before there is a harvest coming out of the field.
Know your farmer, know your food. There are opportunities to become part of the farm community. Come to the farm for a tour and/or participate in volunteer days.
For those of you choosing a Harvest Share, an informative email newsletter comes in advance of your weekly Harvest Share bringing news of the farm and telling you what’s in the box, how to prepare the produce for the fridge so it lasts as long as possible, and a recipe featuring some of that week’s haul.

Deliveries, pickups and vacation
Harvest Share day is Thursday. The first Harvest Share will be on Thursday, June 26. The final Harvest Share will be on Thursday, October 9. If you have chosen a biweekly Harvest Share, you will be randomly assigned either even weeks or odd weeks to help balance weekly workflow. If you have a preference for even or odd weeks, let us know!
Delivery of your Harvest Share is possible in our delivery area only. If you specify delivery, your Harvest Share will be delivered between 10 am and 6 pm on delivery day.
If you will not be at home to receive your produce, you are responsible for leaving a cooler in an accessible location. We will deliver your produce to you in top quality condition. You are responsible for your produce after we leave the veggies in your care.
Pick up locations are 18 Walgate Ave from 3:30pm-7pm and Bakker's General Store from 3-5:45. If you forget to pick up your Harvest Share, it will be forfeited for that week.
Vacation: Let us know by email when you will be away at least 1 week in advance. If you do not receive a confirmation from us, contact us again, your email may have been missed. If you are away and forget to tell us, your harvest share that week is forfeited.
Add-ons
If you’d like to add anything to your order à la carte, you can order from the online store. After signing up you will be given a coupon code to use when adding to your order so that we know it’s a CSA add on, and so there are no delivery charges added to your order.
Veghead farm also offers the option to add a microgreens subscription and/or sourdough bread subscription to the Harvest Share. Both of these add-ons are completely optional. Regarding the bread add-on, the baker is still firming up her summer plans and final bread dates and thus pricing for the Harvest Share season is will be dictated by how many weeks they are away.

Please add vegheadfarm@hotmail.com to your address book so that your weekly newsletter doesn't get caught in your spam folder.

Refunds
We plan our crops around you! For this reason, no refunds will be given for a Harvest Share. You may transfer your Harvest Share to another person.
What about crop failures?
Your farmer will do their best to mitigate the sometimes unexpected difficulties of farming such as insects, disease, too much or not enough heat or rain etc. By purchasing a Harvest Share, you are choosing to share this risk with your farmer. Your farmer plans for these difficulites and uses a variety of techniques to moderate and minimize the effects of these difficulties on your veggies.
By signing up for a Harvest Share you are accepting the risk that your farmer may not be able to fill a portion of your Harvest Share due to insects, disease, too much or not enough heat or rain etc. In this instance we commit to being 100% transparent about the situation and working with you to come to a solution that is satisfactory to both parties.
